Book signing event at Waterstones, Dorchester!
Waterstones to host book signing with local author, Purbeck Wintour
Dorchester born author, Purbeck Wintour, will be signing copies of her debut novel, ‘The Ordinarily Extraordinary Life of Briony,’ at Waterstones in South Street, Dorchester, on Saturday 30 September from 10am to 12pm.
The witty and unashamedly tongue-in-cheek tale centres around Briony Denley; underappreciated wife, underwhelmed mother, and unchallenged mojito drinker, as she negotiates everyday and ordinary situations which often turn out to have extraordinary twists.
Described as ‘an addictive zeitgeist of first world problems in modern day life,’ ‘The Ordinarily Extraordinary Life of Briony’ has already received rave reviews and is available in paperback for £7.99, with the Kindle version already having reached number 3 in the Amazon Kindle download charts.
Having grown up in Dorchester and educated at Castlefield School, Purbeck Wintour dedicated the book to her English teacher, Dick Teague.
She said; “Dick Teague was a hugely inspirational teacher during my time at Castlefield, who encouraged me to nurture my talent and write, write, write! I moved overseas for a number of years where I worked as a writer for various publications in Hong Kong and Australia, before returning to the UK where I was very sad to hear of his passing. I always promised myself that if I ever had a book published I would dedicate it to him, and here it is! I’m really looking forward to meeting people at the signing in Waterstones on Saturday 30th, and I’m hoping that other ex-students of Mr Teague come along as I’m sure I’m not the only one with such fond memories of his English lessons.”
Waterstones store manager, Jan Jaggard, said: “We are very excited to host this particular signing as I have read this book and really enjoyed it. Anyone who likes Sophie Kinsella or Marian Keyes will absolutely love this book."
So come on down to Waterstones, Dorchester, Dorset, on Saturday September 30th, between 10am and 12pm where i'll be plying customers with 'Briony's moist brownies,' and generally chatting to anyone who will give me the time of day. Come and tell me if you are 'The Briony' in your group of friends; if you know someone like Celia, Margaret, Cosmo et all; who your favourite character in the book is, or if events in your life have ever taken an extraordinary twist...
I look forward to meeting you!
